South Devon College aims to enhance its digital capabilities by establishing a Digital Skills Internship programme. This initiative seeks to support the College’s strategic goals of fostering innovation, improving digital literacy among staff and students and integrating cutting-edge educational technologies.
We are recruiting for a Digital Skills and Innovation Intern to promote the use of innovative educational technology across all College teams, both academic and professional. This will be accomplished by offering training, coaching and support to staff and students. Responsibilities include reviewing and implementing the effective use of existing technology and the introduction of new initiatives and technical innovations, such as Assistive Technology, Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR).
The Digital Skills Internship offers invaluable hands-on experience, particularly for students currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a computing or digital media degree. We also welcome applications from those who have recently achieved a Level 3 computing or digital media qualification. While we are especially interested in applicants from University Centre South Devon (UCSD) and South Devon College, we encourage students from other institutions to apply as well.
The role is available as a full-time position (1.0 FTE), fixed term for 18 months, with the possibility of part-time consideration based on the applicant's circumstances, such as ongoing education.
The role requires excellent IT skills and familiarity with a range of digital technologies, platforms, and equipment, with the ability to apply these skills in an educational environment. Essential skills include excellent communication, forward-thinking, and the ability to work effectively with people of all technical abilities.
