JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Job Title: Enabling Home Support Cover Worker
2. Contract term: 6 months (initially)
3. Hours: Minimum 12 hours per week guaranteed; Flexible Mondays to Fridays only
4. Salary: £11.50 - £12 per hour
5. Responsible to: Enabling and Home Support Assessment & Admin Officer
6. Location: The office base will be at Age UK Exeter, The Sycamores, Mount Pleasant Road, though you will mainly travel directly from your home address to work with clients in their own homes and in the community.
7. Job Purpose: To help support the client to remain in their own home by providing a service which promotes their independence, health and mental wellbeing. Visits will consist of light housework, taking clients shopping, for appointments or social outings.
8. Main Duties:
Enabling to go shopping, attend appointments and other social outings
Domestic daily living tasks, including light cleaning, laundry and ironing
Support with paperwork, finances and correspondence
Befriending, advising and signposting to other agencies
To work alongside clients to enable them to participate more fully in negotiations and communications that affect their daily lives. For example, accompanying appointments to interpret and explain information and engage in discussions arising from such information.
To make a risk assessment of the risks and hazards present in any environment where you are working with a client and
to make competent decisions regarding their management to secure the safety of yourself, your client, and others.
To keep in regular contact with the Enabling team, and to report any concerns at the earliest opportunity, adhering to any deadlines.
To make working arrangements with the Enabling team and clients to ensure that your overall work timetable fits together and that clients receive services at times that are convenient and appropriate to them.
To use a work mobile handset to ensure that the required visits are completed and signed off by you, thereby contributing to effective administration and evaluation of this service.
To participate fully as a member of the enabling team, covering for absent team members, attending staff training, regular staff meetings and supervision that may be outside of normal working hours.
To provide reliable and flexible Day Services Assistant cover as and
When required.
To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.
9. Probationary Period: 6 months from commencement of post
10. Annual Leave: Equivalent of 6 weeks per year, including bank holidays
