We have a fantastic opportunity to gain a Level 3 Livestock Technician Apprenticeship on an immaculate farm in Frithelstock, North Devon.
West Ash Farm is an autumn calving organic grazing-based herd with the 200 cows grazing from mid-March until November. We milk in a modern 16/32 parlour with ADF, Northern Dairy brush, automatic in-parlour feeding and segregation gate.
For the Level 3 Apprenticeship we are looking for candidates who may have already completed an agriculture apprenticeship at Level 2 or have a fair amount of farming experience already. Machinery experience including driving a tractor is essential for this farm apprenticeship and a driving license would also be an advantage. Handler and ATV tickets beneficial but training is available.
The main criterium is a passion for farming and a can-do attitude as there are opportunities for permanent employment and further development at this farm following completion of the Level 3.
The farm operates a variety of hours will require flexibility. This is a full-time role, and contracted hours will be dependent on the business needs.
The main duties will include but are not limited to:
- Tractor and machinery work
- Cleaning and maintaining machinery
- Relief Milking
- General yard duties
- Monitoring livestock health and welfare
- Monitoring supplies stock e.g. livestock feed etc
- Working with the internal and external team
Essential entry requirements for the Level 3 apprenticeship are Maths and English qualifications at grade 4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2.

Entry requirements
Applicants must have farm experience and already hold Level 2 agriculture experience. They must have a driving license and experience driving tractors.
Maths and English qualifications at grade 4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2 are essential for this Level 3 apprenticeship.
Training to be provided
You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship.
As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in agriculture.
Training will be a mix of face to face and online learning.
You will gain a Livestock technician Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification with further opportunities for training, development and permanent employment upon completion.
Functional Skills in Maths and English if required.
