Our company has an exciting opportunity for a Pet Sales Advisor in our Cowick Street branch in Exeter
About the Post
This is a 30 hour per week full time role. This role requires the post holder to be flexible working across a varied week, including weekends. It is important to us that our customers always receive a high standard of customer service, this includes:
- meeting and greeting customers;
- advising and guiding on our products, livestock and services;
- the presentation of the store and merchandise;
- processing transactions promptly on the till point is key to the customer experience.
The Pet sales advisor role also includes day to day tasks such as:
- stock rotation;
- unloading and storing deliveries;
- replenishing products on the shop floor.
This role is not a typical retail job, you will be in the proximity of a variety of livestock, including fish, reptiles, small and large birds and small animals such as hamsters, mice and rabbits. The expectation of the role holder will be to handle the livestock without fear, provide advice and guidance when selling the livestock and above all maintain the health and welfare of the animals whilst in store.

About the Person
We are looking for an energetic and motivated person to join an established team who is able to make a contribution to support the success of The Ark pet store.
The person for this role has a passion for the welfare of animals and has a willingness to listen and obtain the training and knowledge required to provide the best care for the animals and to share their knowledge to the future owners of the livestock.
The individual should be someone who is reliable and has the enthusiasm and determination to support the company’s daily demands and challenges as well as meeting their own goals within the role.
You should be self-motivated to plan and organise your day and fulfil your key tasks and responsibilities to the highest of standard.
Someone who is able to build and retain relationships with existing and new customers and to meet or in some instances exceed customer expectations. You must be able to show willingness to display a good understanding of the company’s brand image, products and services you will advise and promote.
You will have excellent customer service spanning 3 years or more and are confident at dealing with a variety of different customers in adapting environments and challenging circumstances.
Someone who has a high standard of communication skills and can work as part of a team as well as on their own and is flexible in their approach to their work.
An individual who can use their initiative to fulfil the demands of the role and other tasks required.
An individual who has a keen interest in learning from others and to develop themselves and aspire to enhance their knowledge within the role to a high standard.
