Senior Strategy Advisor – Role Overview
As Senior Strategy Advisor you will be based within the Strategy team reporting to the Head of Strategy. The Strategy Team sets the long-term direction for the Valuation Office Agency across its three strategic objectives: providing trusted valuations efficiently; delivering an excellent customer experience; and being a great place to work.
We work with policy, operations and the central functions to define and prioritise the Agency’s short term, medium term and long term aims. We gather and analyse data to deliver evidence-based propositions on how to achieve these aims as well as solutions for complex and wide-ranging challenges. We set out appropriate designs and implementation approaches, translating them into actionable plans.
The Strategy Team sits within the broader Strategy and Transformation Group, working across all aspects of the Agency to provide teams with structure and expertise to develop and land transformation successfully. We ensure alignment between major programmes and smaller transformation projects by providing the holistic picture for the Agency.
As Senior Strategy Advisor, you will initially work directly with the Head of Strategy, helping to design and deliver key aspects of the VOA’s strategic plan. The primary focus will be supporting the development of the VOA’s IT platform from a business perspective; ensuring business and programme requirements and implications are fully understood, mapped and communicated. The role will involve high levels of senior engagement and stakeholder management.
The role will go on to lead and support broader strategic elements of the VOA’s transformation and programme work, generally focused on improving our operations or customer experience.
Senior Strategy Advisor – Key responsibilities
- Supporting the VOA’s transition to a stable, modernised IT platform; creating a prioritised roadmap: working closely with programmes and business areas to develop requirements and identifying the longer-term digital capability aspirations.
- Supporting the identification, assessment and improvement of VOA business implications from a broader IT Strategy.
- Supporting and in some cases leading a broader series of high-impacting strategy projects with tangible impacts, including identifying opportunities and developing evidence based on recommendations across customer and operational areas.
- Producing and sourcing research, analysis and other supporting material to inform strategy development.
- Providing insight and advice through reports and briefings to senior leaders and relevant boards on strategy matters.
- Supporting strategy input into investment cases, portfolio assessments and annual business plans.
- Keeping informed of the wider Government agenda and policy environment that are relevant to the Agency, looking to understand the likely implications for the Agency.
- Identifying key stakeholders and developing effective relationships to enable collaborative working on strategy development.
- Being a team player and where necessary, supporting the wider Strategy teams.
