Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Security Team based at Langdon Hospital in Dawlish.
As part of the Security Team you will be part of a team whose main purpose is to keep patients, staff and the environment safe.
In this role, you'll carry out security tasks across the site to ensure a safe environment for people, property and information. As you'll be based at the hospital, you'll support our nursing teams in delivering patient-centered care, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and patients.
The role is dynamic and challenging. On a day-to-day basis, you'll conduct perimeter checks across the site and on our wards, reporting any security concerns or damage. You will also be on-hand to assist our ward nursing and multi-disciplinary healthcare teams with new patient ward admissions and act as an escort/driver for any hospital/court visits. Additionally, you'll be part of the restraint team when needing to respond to any emergencies on the wards and, alongside the Security Manager, you'll provide training to staff on handcuff/soft cuff, security awareness and search training. You may also be asked to carry out nursing assistant roles as required, such as patient observations & conducting urine drug screens (UDS)
Due to the nature of the role, you'll be required to work a flexible shift pattern over a 7 day period which may occasionally include evenings and nights depending on the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
Communication is key in this role and you must have experience of working in a team. As a result, excellent verbal and written skills are required.
Interacting with patients and the public you will be confident in giving non-clinical information and advice that improves their experience. Dealing with sensitive information daily, you will understand the importance of data security.
You will often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and manage your own workload, providing support for your colleagues where required.
You will become an important part of the team, working to ensure that every patient receives high quality care. You may be required to support the induction of new staff member, demonstrating activities to them.
Due to the nature of the role, all staff are required to attend & pass a physical restraint assessment as you may be involved in restraint incidents.
