United Response is looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to join our education team to support students with disabilities in realising their aspirations to participate in work related activities. You will do this predominantly but not exclusively by assisting in the development of maths and English skills.
What are we looking for?
In order to be considered for the post of Function Skills Tutor you should have previous experience of tutoring/teaching SEN students including working on functional skills and have at least a level 4 teaching qualification. As our students offer require support and encouragement you should have the ability to form excellent working relationships and be able to think creative about how best to work with the people we support. A good Functional Skills Tutor should have an understanding of Ofsted requirements and ideally have some experience of working with students with disabilities although this is not essential.
Please note that this role will involve supporting students throughout the North Devon (Okehampton, Bude/ Ilfracombe) area so you must have a full drivers license and access to your own vehicle.
What does a Functions Skills Tutor do?
As a Functional Skills Tutor you will be supporting your students towards work, volunteering and further education opportunities and you will do this by:
·Working as part of the team to deliver ROC College programmes
·Assessing the needs of current and potential students
·Teaching either small groups of on a 1-2-1 basis
·Identifying learning and training opportunities
·Deliver sessions on not only maths and English but also life and employability skills
·Ensuring records and reports of student progress is updated
