The Accounts Assistant is responsible for overseeing the entire accounts payable process, to assist the finance department by performing processing and recording transactions, preparing reports, and verifying financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
· Receive and review supplier invoices, check for accuracy, and ensure timely approval and processing.
· Prepare and submit invoices for payment processing.
· Assist in maintaining records of accounts payable and receivable.
· Ensure that all payments are made and received on time.
· Reconcile accounts with suppliers and customers.
· Reconcile company bank accounts and other financial records to ensure accuracy.
· Enter financial data into the accounting system or software.
· Prepare supporting documentation for monthly and annual financial reports.
· Assist with the preparation of financial statements and accounts reconciliation.
· Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns
· Communicate with suppliers, clients, and other departments to resolve discrepancies and respond to inquiries.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
· Experience of Sage 50 and Xero preferred.
· Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Experience:
· Previous experience in an accounting or finance role (or relevant internship).
· Experience with bookkeeping or data entry.
· Experience in the construction industry a plus
Educational Requirements:
· A-levels or equivalent in accounting, finance, or business.
· AAT level 3 certification.

Pay: £25,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
