Here at Capita we are looking to expand our friendly and supportive Local Government Services team by bringing on board another Business Rates Officer. Based at home you would be responsible for dealing with calls and emails from business rates tax clients regarding their accounts and payments. You would maintain the databases that we use, ensure that queries are assigned to the right teams where you arent able to resolve it for them and that all customers receive a first class service.
We are looking for someone with a passion customer service, someone with previous experience of working with the public and someone who is able to communicate well both over the telephone and via email. What you’ll be doing:
Maintain accurate record of the Academy database
Carry out the processes of Billing, Collection and enforcement of Business rate in accordance with legislation and procedure
Be responsible for the determination of the correct liability for Business Rates and ensure maximum rates income for the authority
Be knowledgeable and maintain a knowledge of all new legislation, regulations and case law
Deal with the billing and recovery process including establishing liability, the issuing of bills, reminders final notices and summonses, dealing with ratepayers which arise by email, written or by telephone.
Utilise knowledge, skills and experience to enable the maximisation of income and reduction of arrears
Be mindful of Rates avoidance and minimise the financial risk posed by non-payment
