An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic school in Dawlish. In this role, you’ll be providing vital support to a child with additional learning needs, enabling them to access the curriculum and thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

About the Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide tailored support to a student, ensuring their social, emotional, and academic growth. Your role will involve creating a positive learning experience, offering encouragement, and fostering the child’s independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist the child in accessing lessons and activities, adapting resources where necessary.
• Implement strategies designed to support the student’s development, as outlined by the SENCO or class teacher.
• Monitor and document the student’s progress, sharing updates with the teacher and parents.
• Support the child in developing essential social and communication skills.
• Help create a safe and welcoming environment that promotes the child’s well-being.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the child’s needs are met effectively.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience supporting children, particularly in 1:1 or SEN roles, is an advantage (but not essential).
• A genuine passion for making a difference in children’s lives.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong connections with students.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Adaptability and a proactive approach to supporting the child’s needs.
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
