The postholder will be based in the Ophthalmology Department at our Eastern Services site. This role will develop over time in response to changes in service delivery and we are therefore looking for person who are energetic, eager to develop and are forward thinking with the potential to adapt to change and meet new challenges. In return we will support you at every level to enable you to develop your new role. The Minor ops clinical nurse specialist will work in collaboration with the consultants, managing a workload of patients; demonstrate a highly specialist knowledge and skills in the management of patients within the eye department. They will order investigations, make appropriate/ timely referrals and maintain relevant clinical records. Non-medical prescribing is fundamental in supporting this role or a willingness to complete this course. You will be an experienced ophthalmic registered nurse You will assess and diagnose specific symptoms within your scope of practice. You will carry out minor operations independently, admit and discharge patients with service information to support the patient once they leave the department. You will run clinics in OPD including our dystonia clinic . Carry out IV infusions and deliver intravitreal injections. Full training will be provided. The post holder will work alongside the medical, nursing and AHP teams, maintaining good communication and collaboration between the various multidisciplinary teams. Therefore the post holder will be a highly visible and approachable role model. Evidence based care will be inherent in their practice, ensuring that best practice is disseminated throughout the clinical areas.
