We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join the finance team of a large, successful retail business based at their Head Office in Plymouth. Reporting to the Overheads Manager and as part of the Overheads team, you will be responsible for overseeing several cost centres, ensuring that expenditure is recorded accurately and on a timely basis. Day to day responsibilities will include processing of expenditure invoices via our data capture system to ensure payment deadlines are met, review of sensitive nominal codes, identifying CAPEX, prepayments and accruals. Analysing costs against budgets and reporting key variances to the Finance Manager team. Assisting in budgeting and reforecasting as appropriate. Responsibilities Ownership of a selection of cost centres & balance sheet codes Posting and evidencing monthly accruals, prepayments and other journals as required Analysing costs versus budgets and communicating key variances Full Accounts payable for all Property invoices using our data capture approval system Quarterly/monthly rents payment preparation Fixed Asset review and transactional postings to include depreciation Supporting budgeting and reforecasting key role in Month end and year end deadlines adhoc tasks as and when required Skills & Requirements Financial qualification (AAT or equivalent) preferred Excellent communication and analytical skills High level of accuracy / organisational skills IT literate with intermediate / advanced Excel skills What we offer Recognised and accredited accounting qualification Pension Long service awards Employee discount Cycle to work scheme If you are interested or have the relevant experience and are currently looking for a new challenge then please submit an up to date CV by clicking the apply button.
