Role Summary:
The Accounts Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting our Management Accountant, ensuring smooth financial operations across the business. This role is ideal for a candidate looking to start or progress in their accounting career, offering valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and being supported fully by our Management Accountant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Receivable & Payable:
- Process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
- Assist in invoicing clients and managing debt collection.
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate financial records.
- Bookkeeping:
- Support in recording financial transactions in our accounting system, Xero
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and preparing and entering journals in the system.
- Preparing a monthly bank reconciliation alongside the month end process.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and assist in month-end financial reporting.
- Support the Management Accountant with regular financial audits.
- Payroll Assistance:
- Aid in processing payroll and employee expense claims.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Administrative Support:
- Handle general accounting administration and filing tasks.
- Respond to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- Ideally pursuing or interested in starting an accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, or equivalent).
- GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent qualifications.
- Skills and Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and willingness to learn.
- Experience with using Xero Accounting Software, not essential but desirable
