This position is perfect for an experienced structural engineer eager to further develop their skills and work towards Chartered status in a role that balances technical expertise and project management. Role Overview: In this role, the structural engineer will bring technical insight and leadership across a variety of projects. These include new builds, school extensions, residential constructions, historical building repairs, and public sector initiatives. Your day-to-day tasks will involve:
- Overseeing work programmes and projects within defined budgets and timeframes.
- Managing project-related maintenance expenses and building strong client relationships.
- Preparing estimates, drafting specifications, and supervising contractors.
- Producing designs, specifications, drawings, and risk assessments for improvement, refurbishment, and new construction projects.
- Overseeing project documentation and tenders, ensuring all work is completed to high standards.
- Conducting structural surveys, creating dilapidation schedules, and responding to urgent issues like dangerous building conditions or ground collapses.
- Offering construction and refurbishment advice to clients and promoting fee-paying surveying services.
- Occasional travel to additional office locations may be required.
Qualifications and Skills Required: The successful candidate will have a solid combination of technical training and practical experience:
- Professional membership with the Institute of Structural Engineers, along with a commitment to or progress toward Chartered status.
- Proven experience in structural engineering or a related discipline.
- Excellent communication skills for building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Familiarity with construction regulations and health and safety standards, particularly concerning asbestos.
- A valid site card or a willingness to obtain one quickly.
