This role is ideal for a skilled structural engineer with both technical and commercial expertise, ready to oversee major projects and drive the team to deliver outstanding results. Role Overview: As the Associate Structural Engineer, you will oversee the planning, technical development and delivery of large-scale projects to meet client and quality standards. You’ll work closely with senior management to manage resources, define project requirements, and guide your team strategically. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing project programmes and ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
- Cultivating strong client relationships, managing specifications, costs, and fees to exceed expectations.
- Assisting senior management in allocating engineering resources effectively across projects.
- Supporting business development activities to expand the range of engineering services offered.
- Promoting best practices within the Structural Engineering team.
- Leading significant projects from planning through to completion, including technical design and oversight.
- Preparing designs, calculations, specifications, drawings, risk assessments, tender documentation, and supervising completion of works.
- Conducting structural surveys, preparing schedules, and providing emergency response for urgent incidents.
- Offering expert advice on construction and refurbishment projects and promoting fee-based surveying services.
Qualifications and Skills Required: To succeed as an Associate Structural Engineer, you should have a solid foundation of technical skills and industry experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Membership with the Institute of Structural Engineers, ideally working toward Chartered status.
- Valid site card, or readiness to obtain one promptly.
- Strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and familiarity with specialist design tools like CAD, Revit, Robot and Tekla.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction health and safety regulations, including asbestos-related guidelines.
