Exeter City Football Club seeks to ensure the safety, safeguarding and wellbeing of all children, young people and adults at risk who engage in its activities.
Further to the recent internal promotion of our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to Chief Executive Officer we have an opportunity for a part-time CFO.

As we strive to achieve our vision of being an outstanding community-owned club, playing football at the highest sustainable level we are seeking an experienced, commercially minded, growth orientated finance leader to oversee the club's finances and support our ongoing efforts to improve every aspect of the running of the club.
The key responsibilities of the CFO will include financial management, financial planning & analysis, stakeholder management and team leadership. Financial management will include developing and implanting financial strategies, policies & procedures, overseeing the Clubs financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash flow management, monitoring financial performance and identifying areas of improvement and growth.
Financial planning and analysis will involve strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting & scenario planning. Conducting comprehensive financial reviews and analysis, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to support decision-making & enhance financial performance. This includes working closely with our commercial team evaluating revenue streams, sponsorship agreements and commercial partnerships and developing robust business cases for major capital projects.
The CFO will be responsible for ensuring the finance team is cross functional and collaborative to maximise knowledge and financial performance across the football club. Providing leadership and motivation to the finance team and developing a high-performing finance team recognising and celebrating the unique strengths and contributions of individuals is essential.
As well as team management responsibilities the CFO will need to foster positive relationships and open communication with internal and external stakeholders and continue to build on the Club & Trusts commitment to provide transparency to our supporters and Trust members by providing a comprehensive review of our financial wellbeing each season.
The CFO will need to ensure compliance with the Trust/Club Agreement and regulatory requirements, including the parameters of UEFA Financial Fair Play and EFL reporting requirements and be aligned to the club's vision and values including our commitment to measured growth, long-term sustainability and community ownership.
In line with the above role and responsibilities we welcome applications from candidates with a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field as well as professional certification such as ACA, ACCA or equivalent is highly desirable. Proven experience is required of at least 8 - 10 years in financial management and operations and candidates will have ideally worked within the sports or wider events and hospitality industry or community-owned organisations.
Candidates will need to be commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential individuals. We are looking for energetic, highly motivated culture carriers with excellent leadership, managerial and communication skills with an enquiring mind, passion for excellence and innovation and are in pursuit of business growth and success.
