On Call, Various Hours / Temporary / Casual
The successful candidates will be working within the Ethnic minority and Traveller Achievement service (EMTAS), who have over 25 years’ experience supporting Devon schools with improving learning outcomes and attendance for ethnically diverse and English as an additional language (EAL) children.
EMTAS are seeking on call Bilingual support workers for the following languages: Pashtu, Korean, Kurdish, and Hausa.
Your role, which may include travel across Devon (excluding Plymouth) will be to:
- Build affective relationships with schools and staff.
- Provide bilingual support in the classroom, one-to-one or small group support to EAL children across all key stages (primary and secondary).
- Prepare of resources for delivering one-to-one or small group support - support and guidance will be provided.
- Monitor children's language development - assessing and reporting on their progress.
- Support professionals and parents as an interpreter through your language(s), in meetings and through communication between school and families.
- Write pupil visit notes, support the development of team resources and guidance.
- Be involved in cultural celebrations days.
- Deliver Home language assessments - full training will be given.
- Translate key documents into your spoken language(s).
Additional information:
This is an on call role, where you will be contacted if the team receives a request for your language. Your availability and work will then be agreed to meet the demands of the request. Your base location will be subject to where you reside and will be discussed at interview. You do not need to reside in Exeter to apply for this role.
