Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has a fantastic opportunity for a Digital Content Officer (Content Creator) to join our team in Exeter on a full time (37 hours per week) fixed term basis for 6 months. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31364.00 - £33945.00 (gross) per annum.

About the role:
As our Digital Content Officer (Content Creator), you will develop engaging and informative content for the Service's digital channels with a particular focus on the new SharePoint Intranet. This involves working with colleagues across the Service to develop and promote task-based and user-focused content for the Intranet.
You will also provide day-to-day management of digital communications channels, advising which content styles are appropriate and developing all content to the agreed design principles.

Key responsibilities of our Digital Content Officer (Content Creator) will include:
- Support clients in service areas to develop content to support their aims.
- Be a champion for our digital tools across the Service and externally.
- Scope, write, edit and publish digital content using various SharePoint webparts for the intranet in partnership with subject matter experts.
- Handle change requests using an agile methodology and relevant tools.
- Redesign user journeys and content to be user-focused first and foremost, making use of appropriate content types and mitigating content where appropriate.
- Maintain high levels of accessibility in all content complying and striving to exceed national standards.
- Manage relationships with subject matter experts across the Service to keep them engaged with the process of ensuring content is accurate and meets the agreed design principles.
- Ensure all links work, suggested information architecture is observed, and all content contains full and relevant meta-data.
- Continually look for improvements by monitoring customer feedback and analytics and benchmarking against others.
- Support and facilitate any requests for information, including requests made under the Freedom of Information Act, aiming to provide information accurately, timely and in accordance with any legal requirements.
- Prioritise all activity and facilitate self-service within Service areas for low level non-priority work, including developing systems, training and tools to support colleagues.
- Work with other members of the Communications and Engagement team to get the best out of all of our activity.
- Develop engaging content in various formats, including working with internal and external designers, to support development of digital content particularly on the new intranet.
- Ensure that all activity is delivered on brand, on message, within budget, using plain English and defined by user needs, in line with agreed page templates.
- Continually adapt to the changing world of digital communications and information management. Keep on top of your game by carrying out personal training and development, attending training events as required, and keeping in touch with developments in the profession.
