Engineering Technician
(Injection Moulding department)

8am – 4pm Monday to Friday
£30,000 - £39,000 per annum

Purpose:
- Support the activities of the Senior Engineers and departmental Process Owner
- Ensure the process area is in control and sustainable to allow Process and Product Engineers to design their processes efficiently and consistently, confident that the outcome will be the same today as it was yesterday
- Ensure the process area is always evolving in a state of continuous improvement to allow Process and Product Engineers to meet the challenges of the customers advanced designs and market differentiation.
- Ensure process area is the most cost effective it can be, so the business opportunity is maximised.
Key Responsibilities:
- Member of department help chain to support with process related issues, troubleshoot manufacturing problems and provide technical support to resolve issues to root cause to allow production of quality parts to resume in a timely manner.
- Support process improvement activities with the process owner Support product Improvement activities with product engineering
- Generate and update documentation to support standard work and EMS’s
- Collection and review of department specific process control data and follow reaction plan when required.
- Conduct daily scrap reviews, process management walkthroughs and audits to ensure processes are performed in compliance with the methods, materials and equipment detailed in the relevant SOP’s.
- Take part in yield improvement activities to reduce Process related scrap and Executional scrap using DMAIC tools.
- Assist Process Owner with the introduction of new equipment.
- Support Product Engineers with New Parts Introduction and creating work instructions
Requirements
- +2 years of relevant technical/engineering experience
- Degree/HNC or equivalent in Engineering discipline, minimum BTEC Level III in Engineering
- Tooling design and/or CAD experience desirable
- Experience in problem solving technical issues using defined methodologies such as DMAIC six sigma
- Complete Six Sigma Green Belt Training within 3 years of starting the role
- Mechanical aptitude for tooling and manufacturing processes
- High level of computer literacy (Word / Excel charting and analysing data).
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals
- Awareness of Health and Safety
