About you:
We are seeking a positive and motivated individual with a ‘can do’ attitude, who can work efficiently across multiple areas under competing deadlines.
You will have experience of insurance administration and experience of managing a small team would be desirable.
A strong focus on accuracy is essential with the ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a pressurised environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with both internal colleagues and external organisations at all levels is essential.
An AAT qualification or equivalent and a good knowledge of financial accounting techniques and methods is required.
You will have experience of Microsoft Office applications and computerised financial systems with a desire to investigate and implement optimal use.
The successful applicant must have good problem-solving skills and a drive to understand how things work and help investigate system and reconciliation issues.
About the role:
This is an exciting new opportunity to join the finance team. You will be responsible for the delivery and administration of the insurance function for the council to ensure that the council is properly covered and protected.
The role will involve managing and supporting a small team of finance technicians that complete the key financial reconciliations that underpin the council’s financial statements and support the insurance function.
In conjunction with the Transactional Services and Finance System Lead, the successful applicant will help undertake system development, testing and research to promote optimal use of IT for finance as well as acting as liaison with software providers.
About the team:
The Systems and Insurance Manager will work closely with the Transactional Services and Finance System Lead officer, within the wider Finance team to manage the finance systems and will lead on the provision of the insurance function on behalf of the Council.
The Finance Department sits within the Corporate Resources Directorate. As the Systems and Insurance Manager you will be managing a small team of finance technicians whose work underpins the council’s financial statements.
