This is an exciting opportunity to be instrumental in the ongoing success of Step One by securing and maintaining funds from trusts and foundations, as well as driving participation in challenge events and community fundraising initiatives. You will also be responsible for managing fundraising partnerships, major donors, legacies, third parties and other fundraising sources.

Focusing mainly on trusts and foundations, you will identify great opportunities for the charity and write compelling and persuasive bid applications to secure income for the work we do and our growth plans that make up our ambitious 5-year plan. You will develop and implement the organisation’s fundraising strategy and be innovative in identifying fundraising projects with a particular focus initially on trusts and foundations, major donors, and legacies. You will lead and support the fundraising team to achieve the fundraising targets and encourage an environment of growth and development with your reports. In addition, you will work closely with the marketing and communications team to manage media relationships relevant to fundraising and ensure the profile necessary to support our aims.

You will have a great breadth of experience of working with trusts and foundations and excellent and proven bid writing skills.
You will have exceptional interpersonal skills to support long lasting relationship building with donors and local networks.
You will be energetic, creative and have a can-do attitude which will enable you to lead our small but amazing fundraising team.
You will be passionate about mental health and have a real commitment to supporting our mission and vision.
You will have experience of the local landscape and the ability to develop networks to support the identification of major donors and be confident in the stewardship of such relationships

Essential

Significant fundraising experience across a broad portfolio including trusts and foundations, major donors, legacies, local networks and individual giving within the charity sector.
A track record of achieving fundraising targets (both individually and as a team) and developing successful applications through fundraising activities.
A good track record of sustaining and stewardship of long-term positive relationships with funders and stakeholders.
Systematic and methodical approach with a ‘can-do’ attitude and commitment to ‘get things done’.
High level proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

Fundraising experience for a capital project.
Expert knowledge of social media channels and experience of close working with marketing teams would be beneficial.
Fundraising qualification / evidence of continued professional development is desirable (e.g. diploma from the chartered institute of fundraising).
Experience of using fundraising CRMs.

Skills

Ability to manage and organise own time/ workload and achieve tight deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, an ability to create a compelling case.
Skilled at strategic planning and implementation.

37.5 hours, Hybrid role
